Every little helps

News that Tesco are to continue their attempts for world domination with an expansion into mortgages reaches Charcol Towers with some interest. At a time when far too many lenders are either disappearing or considering their position, some extra competition will be a welcome thing. That said, it sounds like we will have to wait for another year or so to see what they might do.
Will they brand them along their current lines? If so, I'd like a finest mortgage please.
Yet perhaps the most interesting thing will be who they choose to front the ads. Paul "what attracted you to the multi-millionaire" Daniels currently fronts their comparison site ads. Whether using a magician, and one who inspires such firm feelings (one way or the other) with the public, was a sensible trick (get it) remains to be seen.
My first thought? They will need someone who represents safety, with the current market awash with turmoil and constant change, a safe pair of hands will surely position the offering correctly. That knocks out most politicians, footballers, rock stars, models...
In fact, who can they choose? The only people who appear to be doing well at the moment are, ironically, Tesco; so perhaps Sir Terry will have to get in front of the camera himself. Just a thought, but other suggestions welcome...
